Even worse than putting the clothes on the line was..... "time to take in the laundry, dear". That was a boring task. To take each piece neatly down was beyond my understanding. It was much more fun to pull on the towels until the clothespins snapped and landed quite far away from the clothesline. In retrospect, I wonder how the cotton clothesline withstood my fierce tugging. To me, it was a game.....until my parents would find a clothespin stuck in the lawn mower.
Meanwhile fifty years later, clotheslines are either criticized as unsightly or championed as a way to reduce our energy consumption. Yes, we do have a clothesline and I use it when the deck it hangs from isn't under 4 feet of Maine snow. And, yes, I still throw the clothes on helter skelter...and they dry no matter how disorderly I am.
So, I dedicate my website to all the clotheslines that have caught my
eye and therefore my camera lens over the past years...here in North America and places visited by us as well.
By the way, clotheslines are a great way to reduce your
utility bills and help the environment.
HANG ON AND HANG OUT THOSE CLOTHES!
